Materialist Creed – Bridge Preaching (5 min video)
→ Dandavats.com

Hamsaduta: I once heard that when some devotees wanted to buy a church in America you suggested that they should keep the altar and next put Radha-Krsna and give simultaneous lecture from Bible and from Bhagavad-gita. I was thinking that in Shree Lanka, if it would be all right to have a deity of Lord Buddha and speak simultaneously on the Dharmapatha(?) and also Bhagavad-gita, showing how Bhagavad-gita is beyond the stage of nirvana. Is that a good idea, Prabhupada, or not?
Prabhupada: Good idea, provided you can present properly. Read more ›

A Spiritual Solution to Religious and Racial Violence
→ Dandavats.com

Equally ludicrous is the idea of people hating and killing each other because of race or ethnicity. The only thing we gain from this kind of violence is more anger, pain, and suffering. Nobody wins and it’s nothing more than a battle of egos where one group needs to feel better than the other.

The Bhagavad Gita suggests that we look at each other’s bodies as the clothing that covers the soul. Souls in this world are clothed in a variety of colors – black, brown, white, and yellow. Would a sensible person hate another person’s clothing and harm that individual simply because of the clothing he or she was wearing? This is essentially what we are doing when we bring harm to another simply because of their skin color, place of birth, or the religion they practice. Read more ›

Meet TOVP donors: Guru Gauranga Das & Family
→ Dandavats.com

Srila Prabhupada created ISKCON to facilitate the rehabilitation of all misguided souls toward the lotus feet of Krishna. The implementation of World peace through God conscious lies squarely on the shoulders of the representatives of Lord Chaitanya which includes all of us. The urgency of this cause has been loudly articulated in the clear and powerful instructions of the greatest Titan of devotion – Srila Prabhupada. One of the most important instructions he gave, was that all of us – the global community of Vaisnavas, must cooperate to build this great temple.
As individuals making up this harmonious body of ISKCON, it is our filial duty to Srila Prabhupada to cooperate in this mammoth task. There is no greater opportunity, there is no better time, and there is no better project to support generously with all your heart. Make your contribution to the TOVP an evocation of your love for Srila Prabhupada, the parampara and Panchatattva. Read more ›

Confessed “Glutton” visits Toronto’s Govinda Hare Krishna Restaurant
→ Dandavats.com

In all my years of living in Toronto, I’ve never once stepped inside the Hare Krishna Temple. But that all changed a couple weeks ago.

What finally led me to venture inside this historic building?

One word: buffet.

For a glutton like me, simply uttering the word “buffet” is music to my taste buds. I immediately envision myself standing at a long table piling my plate to overflowing with delectable offerings from every possible food group. And the best part? Having free rein to stuff your plate and face over and over again – without people judging you. What a fabulous concept! Read more ›

Meet Rose Forkash, the originator of the F.O.L.K. (Friends of Lord Krishna) program in USA

Bhumi Devi Dasi: There are so many devotees who love and cherish Rose Forkash. She was the originator of the F.O.L.K. program and did so much to help befuddled parents of devotees to understand what their children were doing when they joined the Hare Krsna Movement in the 1970’s and 80’s. She has stayed close with many of the devotees over the years and chants Hare Krsna on beads every single day of her life. When I visited her recently, we brought some prasadam with us, and before she would honor it, she asked, “Is it offered?” She is so far out! I just love her. She is just like a real mom to me. Happy birthday Rose! May you go back to Godhead…! Oh! I forgot to mention, she is the mother of Lila Sakti devi dasi, one of the greats in our movement, and one of my very closest friends…. May good fortune be bestowed on their entire family! Read more ›

“So this festival, taking part in these festivals means a step forward to our self-realization. Rathe ca vāmanaṁ dṛṣṭvā punar janma na vidyate. Simply by seeing the Lord on the chariot, one makes advancement for stopping the repetition of birth and death… This Rathayātrā is one of the activities of Kṛṣṇa. Therefore to take part in the Rathayātrā festival means to associate with Kṛṣṇa directly. So in this way, if we associate with Kṛṣṇa’s name, Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes, Kṛṣṇa’s qualities, Kṛṣṇa’s form, then, gradually, we transcend this material existence. World Holy Name Week in Vrindavan – Vrajavadhus Kirtan

After just returning from our summer kirtan tour of America and Canada, we couldn’t be more delighted to be back in the land of Kirtan, Vrindavan, just in time for World Holy Name Week.

We felt a special calling from Srila Prabhupada. A feeling of his Divine Grace’s acceptance to once again allow us to share the holy names at his Samadhi Mandir in Sri Vrindavan Dham.

Each night many hundreds of exuberant young and old, boys and girls would go wild, dancing and chanting to the holy names. Their ears wanted more. Their mouths called out louder. We sang and watched as their hearts transformed.

World Holy Name Week-Harinam in Ubud, Bali (Album 55 photos)
→ Dandavats.com

Most my picture here are people that walk around Ubud and showing their interest toward our Harinam. Many people out there are waiting for the devotees to giving them holy name, Srila Prabhupada’s books and prasadam.
Not only is the chanter of the mahā-mantra purified, but the heart of anyone who happens to hear the transcendental vibration of Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare/ Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma, Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare is also cleansed. Even the souls embodied in lower animals, insects, trees and other species of life also become purified and prepared to become fully Kṛṣṇa conscious simply by hearing the transcendental vibration. This was explained by Ṭhākura Haridāsa when Caitanya Mahāprabhu inquired from him how living entities lower than human beings can be delivered from material bondage. Haridāsa Ṭhākura said that the chanting of the holy names is so powerful that even if one chants in the remotest parts of the jungle, the trees and animals will advance in Kṛṣṇa consciousness simply by hearing the vibration. In my short talk I stressed the importance of spiritual life and how Bhagavad Gita can solve many of the problems we face in modern society. I also elaborated on how God is a person and real happiness can only be achieved by reviving our dormant love for Him. I concluded by explaining the meaning of Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. It was short, sweet and to the point. Thank you Srila Prabhupada for allowing me to be your representative.
