Removing the Darkness of Kali Yuga (Album 70 photos)
→ Dandavats.com

Indradyumna Swami: Every day we chant the holy names of the Lord for hours along the beaches of the Baltic Sea coast. Each evening thousands of people attend our festivals and many chant along with us. We are happy and satisfied serving the mission of our glorious spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada.

“When people properly glorify the Supreme Personality of Godhead, or simply hear about His power, the Lord personally enters their hearts and cleanses away every trace of misfortune, just as sun removes the darkness or as a powerful wind drives away the clouds.”

Iskcon Calgary Ratha Yatra 2014 (12 min video)
→ Dandavats.com

“One who chants the holy name even once is considered a Vaisnava devotee, and the householders should be very attentive to respect such a person. But the devotee who constantly chants Krsna’s name is even a better Vaisnava, for he is endowed with all good qualities. The most advanced Vaisnava of all is he who inspires others who see him to immediately chant the Lord’s name. When he chants the name even once, attraction to rendering eternal devotional service to the Supreme Lord is irrevocably established. Kindly tell Me how the nondevotees can be made to accept the chanting of the holy name of Krsna.” Read more ›

The holy name is both the means and the end The only method or means (sadhana) in this age is the holy name of the Lord. The only goal (sadhya) to be attained in this age is Krsnaprema. Even in the stage of perfection, the name is not given up but is chanted all the more, for it is intrinsic to the activities of prema. Indeed, the name is not different from the Lord: it is the very embodiment of prema. If the means is the end, then the end and the means never contradict one another. If process is identical to the objective, then it is easy for the jivas to attain the desired goal of life, Krsnaprema. By the mercy of His holy name, Krsna easily delivers the jivas in the age of Kali. Read more ›

Family life (and the home itself) should be an ashrama, a place for spiritual culture. • The grihastha ashrama is considered higher than the brahmachari ashrama, an opportunity for personal and spiritual growth by extending one’s responsibility. • Mutual respect between the ashramas is an essential feature of a healthy society. • Personal growth and character formation are integral to the process of spiritual development. • Though Vaisnava theology values ultimate renunciation, such renunciation has to be internal and mature. Otherwise it is inappropriate and may be dangerous both individually and socially. Read more ›

A visit to beautiful Kamyavana, Vrindavana (Album 24 photos)
→ Dandavats.com

A short visit to the Holy sites of Kamyavana with H.G Deena Bandhu prabhu. Kama means “desires.” The Adi Varaha Purana states that this is the forest where all the desires of the demigods and devotees are fulfilled. This forest has a parikrama of 22 km (14 miles). The town here is called Kaman and it is a fairly good-sized town. When the three original Deities of Vrindavana, Radha Madana-Mohana, Radha Govinda and Radha Gopinatha were taken from Vrindavana to Jaipur to avoid being destroyed by Aurangzeb, they stayed in Kamyavana for three nights. Since these Deities stayed here, three temples have been established here dedicated to Radha Govinda, Radha Madana-Mohana and Radha Gopinatha, Radha Gopinatha is worshiped in a house of a grihasta. There are 84 kundas here where Krishna would have pastimes with the cowherd boys. Indradyumna Swami: Today’s newspapers reported a terrible plane crash, crimes, scandals, murders and ongoing fighting in wars around the world. We live in troubled times. The only hope is Krsna consciousness, which quickly brings relief from the miseries of material life. That antidote is delivered in the form of blissful chanting and dancing to the holy names of the Lord. Our humble contribution to that effort is our daily harinams and festivals along the northern beaches of Poland. May Krsna grant us the strength to continue this program for many years to come! Many birds were brought to vets with eyes and head swollen in the past fortnight, he said, adding that this was a symptom of a viral infection. The vet also said the birds appeared to be suffering from a severe deficiency of vitamins and minerals, which affects the nervous system. He said that the infected peacocks start to feel dizzy and whirl to their deaths. The vet advised villagers to feed the birds water-soluble vitamin tablets and antibiotics. Read more ›

Creating A Livelihood For Devotees
→ Dandavats.com

Here at Gopal Soft Toys, we are trying to live a simple life according to Srila Prabhupada’s teaching. Besides creating a livelihood for the devotees who work with us, the proceeds of the sales of our Products are also supporting our small cow protection project.
We are maintaining 7 cows and bulls: Dadu Balaram, his nephew Krishna, Mother Nandini, Mother Surabhi, Mother Kamadhenu, Heifer Sachimata and small Gaurangi.

Srila Prabhupada on simple living:
“… live simple life, keeping cows, village life as it is exhibited by Krsna, Vrndavana. Krsna, if He liked, He could have lived in cities. How they were happy, the inhabitants of Vrndavana with Krsna and living and cows. That I want to introduce. At any cost do it and… Don’t bother about big, big buildings.”

In the Past 15 years our dolls have traveled far and wide, from India to Europe, North America to South America, from New Zealand and Australia to all the way to Siberia and all around Asia, just to brighten up the faces and hearts of children and Adults as well. Read more ›

Dear to the Alachua devotees, Govinda the Bull Passes Away
→ Dandavats.com

Govinda had taken a turn for the worse and was refusing to eat or drink. The vet diagnosed him as having a heart condition for which there is no cure available for cows. He did prescribe some additional medicine to help alleviate some of they symptoms, but it became apparent that Govinda would soon be departing. A shade tent was erected since the weather was turning sunny and a sound system was set up to play Srila Prabupada chanting bhajans. Then on Tuesday morning (Ekadasi), with his caretakers and a number of devotees present, Govinda breathed his last.

Govinda, like all of Krishna and Balarama’s cows and oxen who live and die in the holy dhama of New Raman Reti, was no ordinary animal. He had the good fortune of rendering service, honoring Krishna prasad, and hearing the Holy Name. And like many of his predecessors, he gave up his bovine body on an auspicious day. He will be missed by his herd mates and caretakers, but has surely gone on to greener pastures. Read more ›

Profiles of Srila Prabhupada Disciples: Dhruva Maharaja das
→ Dandavats.com

Shortly after Srila Prabhupada’s departure in 1977, Dhruva Maharaja prabhu became temple commander of the Krsna-Balarama Mandir in Vrindavan. In 1981, he resided at Srila Prabhupada’s rooms at Radha-Damodara Temple. During that time he met several local Vaisnavas and developed an interest to learn more about Vraja Mandala and parikrama. A few years later he participated in Lord Caitanya’s 500th Anniversary Padayatra around India, beginning in Dvaraka and walking to Cochin in South India. After participating in and leading many padayatras during those years, in 1985 Dhruva Maharaja prabhu met and married his wife, Samapriya devi dasi. The couple returned to the U.S. and continued to distribute Srila Prabhupada’s books and gradually phased into other seasonal businesses as well. They have spent the last 29 years traveling back and forth between the U.S. and India: Vrindavana (1985-89), Mayapur (1990-94), and Jagannatha Puri, where they built a home in 1994 and continue to visit up to the present. During this time, he also wrote and published two books on the holy dhamas: “Vrindavana Dhama Ki Jaya!” and “Jaya Jagannatha!” Read more ›

Kadamba Kanana Swami: Taking real shelter of the vaisnavas
→ Dandavats.com

Duplicity is something required in the material world but from the spiritual plane duplicity is a real problem. It is actually one of the activities that can really block our spiritual advancement and it’s important that a vaisnava is not only truthful in what he says and that he doesn’t speak any lies, but that he’s just truthful about what he is experiencing, because then one can actually take shelter of the vaisnavas. If we are on the platform of pretending, always playing a part for everyone, then we are very alone because we never share our real self with anybody else. So we have to come to the point where we just share wherever we are, whatever we are going through with other vaisnavas, because then we get the shelter of the vaisnavas. Read more ›

An interview with Krsna Ksetra Das – soon to be Krsna Ksetra Swami
→ Dandavats.com

We have recently found out that you will take sannyasa, and that the initiation will take place at Goloka Dham, Germany on Janmastami this year. What made you decide to take this step?

What made me decide to take this step was no single event, it was I would say the culmination of a process of reflection that I`ve been having quite some years actually. I was cautious because we have seen in ISKCON there have been in the past what you might call sannyasa casualties and I didn`t want to be a part of that statistic. So I thought better to wait and make sure. I also felt that since Srila Prabhupada gave sannyasa to senior devotees, he had a purpose for this and I want to respect that purpose and, I think, to expand my service by making this commitment. And in one sense people say I`m already a sannyasi. That may be the case, but I`d like to make it confirmed. And since it`s Krishna`s arrangement that there are four ashramas, I thought let me also take advantage of the ashrama. All of the ashramas are meant to be supportive for devotional service, so I also see the sannyasa ashrama as a means of support for my spiritual life personally and also for helping others in their spiritual life. “If one is trained to honor and worship the cows and brahmanas, he is actually civilized. The worship of the Supreme Lord is recommended, and the Lord is very fond of the cows and brahmanas (namo brahmanya-devaya go-brahmana-hitaya ca). In other words, a civilization in which there is no respect for the cows and brahmanas is condemned. One cannot become spiritually advanced without acquiring the brahminical qualifications and giving protection to cows. Read more ›

Encouraging news – cows for regenerating the Earth
→ Dandavats.com

Bhakti Rasamrita Swami: Recently a devotee veterinary doctor, Dr Sreekumar, brought to my attention the work of Allan Savory,a biologist & ecologist, who persuasively argues the case for increasing the number of cattle & implementing ‘holistic planned grazing’ as the only solution to the rapid desertification of vast swathes of land on the planet. Dr Savory also emphasises the positive & substantial impact this will have in reversing climate change.

This is remarkable, coming from a mainstream scientist. His work turns conventional modern ‘scientific wisdom’ on its head since modern scientists believe cows to be one of the major culprits for global warming & climate change. In fact, they propose culling of cattle as one solution to the environmental crisis.
