By chanting the holy name of the Supreme Lord, one comes to the stage of love of Godhead. Then the devotee is fixed in his vow as an eternal servant of the Lord, and he gradually becomes very much attached to a particular name and form of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. As his heart melts with ecstatic love, he laughs very loudly or cries or shouts. Sometimes he sings and dances like a madman, for he is indifferent to public opinion. SB 11.2.40 Read more ›

Rathayatra at New Govardhana, Australia (Album 221 photos)
→ Dandavats.com

The original inner meaning of Rathayatra is very beautiful.

In His time on this Earth, Krishna grew up in Vrindavana, and had great loving friendships there with all the residents, including the cowherd boys and girls.

When Krishna grew up, He became a King and moved away from His childhood friends.

After many years the residents of Vrindavana came to see Him. But He seemed so different to the mischevious cowherd boy they all knew and loved.

So they kidnapped Him and tried to bring Him back to Vrindavana on a cart.

Being with Krishna like this they felt simultaneous loving emotions of closeness and separation.

The Rathayatra festival is a modern expression of this pastime. Read more ›

→ Dandavats.com

Sri Jagannatha Mandir ,Kuala Lumpur held a programme in honour of Srila Bhakti Vinode Thakura’s disappearance anniversary. Programme started with singing of Je anilo Premadhana followed by reading from “The seventh Goswami”. Soon after that Bhoga offering , pushpanjali and Maha arati was performed. A delicious feast was served to all at the end. It was a day to meditate on the development of congregational preaching since it was Srila Bhakti Vinode Thakura who revived Lord Nityananda’s Nama Hatta preaching programme and later on developed Lord Chaitanya’s tree of devotion. It is mentioned that Bhakti Vinode Thakura established at least five hundred namahattas and was actively preaching amongst grihasta devotees. It is amazing to see that the preaching techniques that Srila Bhakti Vinode Thakura used 100 years ago are relevant even till today. On this day ISKCON Malaysia Regional Secretary, His Grace Simhesvara Prabhu wrote a wonderful message with regards to congregational preaching by developing Shraddha kutirs . His Grace is presently engaged in developing a first ever farm community in Malaysia. Read more ›

Persons who chant the holy name of Your Lordship must have executed all kinds of austerities and fire sacrifices and achieved all the good manners of the Aryans. To be chanting the holy name of Your Lordship, they must have bathed at holy places of pilgrimage, studied the Vedas and fulfilled everything required. SB 3.33.7 Read more ›

Glorification of the Supreme Personality of Godhead is performed in the paramparä system; that is, it is conveyed from spiritual master to disciple. Such glorification is relished by those no longer interested in the false, temporary glorification of this cosmic manifestation. Descriptions of the Lord are the right medicine for the conditioned soul undergoing repeated birth and death. Therefore, who will cease hearing such glorification of the Lord except a butcher or one who is killing his own self? SB 10.1.4 Read more ›

Does The Soul Exist? Evidence Says ‘Yes’
→ Dandavats.com

New scientific theory recognizes life’s spiritual dimension. Traditionally, science has dismissed the soul as an object of human belief, or reduced it to a psychological concept that shapes our cognition of the observable natural world. The terms “life” and “death” are thus nothing more than the common concepts of “biological life” and “biological death.” The animating principle is simply the laws of chemistry and physics. You (and all the poets and philosophers that ever lived) are just dust orbiting the core of the Milky Way galaxy. Read more ›
