New Delhi: Close to the heels of a secretaries-level group to rejuvenate Ganga river, Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti on Tuesday announced a separate committee for cleansing the polluted Yamuna river in Delhi.

“We have already formed a group comprising secretaries from the ministries of environment, transport, tourism and water resources to clean up Ganga. Similarly, we would be constituting a committee of officials from the ministries of Urban Development, Rural Development and Central Water Commission to cleanse Yamuna,” Bharti told reporters here. 14th of June is the Saturday before Sunday’s London Rathayatra. Letchmore Heath is a very small village which lies between Radlett and Watford. There is a small village hall situated there which today hosted a get-together with many of the older Hare Krishna devotees who joined and were active in the 1970’s. This is the kirtan that took place later in the day. If you are familiar with ISKCON and the Hare Krishna devotees you should recognise some of these famous devotees. It was a very nice afternoon and if you would like to see more I’m uploading photos every day onto FaceBook. So I’ll repeat my usual mantra here, if you are sad, bad or just plain mad, chant Hare Krishna and be happy 🙂

Indradyumna Swami: Tatarstan is a republic in Russia with a large ethnic Muslim population. Known for it’s religious tolerance it is home to many mosques and churches … and one Hare Krsna temple. Devotees have permission to distribute books but are only allowed one harinam a month in downtown Kazan, the capitol. The kirtan party is restricted to a small area and must not come within 50 meters of a mosque or a church. It was our good fortune to be present for June’s harinam. The devotees were given 3 hours to chant and they gave it everything they had. I take the dust of each and every devotee preaching Krsna consciousness in the lands of Islam upon my head. Read more ›

Today at the Embassy of India passed the gala evening celebrating 153 birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, Indian writer, poet, composer, artist and public figure, whose neohvatnoe is a unique part of world heritage cultural treasures.
Ms. Artie Soni (the initiator of the idea and the organiser of the event, the editor-in-Chief of the newspaper “Višv darpan”), who visited in April charity photo exhibition “India”, invited Valery Ignat′eviča Dolgopolova (Director of “food for life”) and Oleg Singareeva (author’s works exhibition) to participate in this landmark event.
After the opening ceremony with the ignition lights, guests were given a cultural program, concert dance and song.
In turn, Valery Igntat′evič and Oleg Singarevym were congratulated for the feast and solemnly handed one of the works of the author as a gift to the Ambassador of India to Russia and his wife.
At the end of the concert, the “food of life” team fed the guests and participants of the event a delicious vegetarian meal.

This spectacular four-minute video from BhakTV shows a massive crane lifting a two-and-a-half ton stainless-steel panel onto the center dome of the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium in Sridham Mayapur, India. The crane is accompanied by a remote-controlled miniature helicopter with an on-board HD video camera. With complementary footage from a second camera on the ground, “Another Panel On The Dome” presents a view of how the construction of this immense dome proceeds, panel by panel. Two hundred fifty panels will be fitted into place to form a massive glittering steel dome with a base measuring fifty-six meters across (150ft) at a height of 51 meters (200ft) above the ground. And this is only stage one. The steel dome will act as a base for a layer of concrete poured on top of it. The present stage is the most critical in this momentous project — a double-width dome on a world-class religious structure, the largest Hindu temple to be built in decades.

The Chida-dadhi Mahotsav, also known as the Chipped Rice Festival of Panihati, is a yearly celebration of the pastimes of Srila Raghunatha dasa Goswami and Lord Nityananda Prabhu. This astonishing pastime took place on the banks of the Ganges at Panihati, which is just north of Calcutta. Lord Caitanya and his associates enjoyed many transcendental pastimes here. Chida-dadhi Mahotsav remembers how the Lord mercifully reciprocated with His devotees by arranging, through Nityananda Prabhu and Raghunatha dasa, to provide an ecstatic feast of yoghurt and chipped rice, along with various other nectar foodstuffs. Even if in the beginning one chants the Hare Krishna mantra with offenses, one will become free from such offenses by chanting again and again. Papa-kshayas ca bhavati smaratam tam ahar-nisam: one becomes free from all sinful reactions if one chants day and night, following the recommendation of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. It was Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu who quoted the following verse:

Ananta-shanti Dasa passed away on June 3 this year, as the result of a stroke. My dear godbrother Ananta-shanti, the sacrifices you made in spreading Krishna consciousness, the suffering you underwent in executing that mission, and the determination you displayed to serve the order of our spiritual master are rare even amongst Gaudiya Vaishnavas.

May all Vaishnavas know of your exploits. May they honor the pain you endured and the faith you regained despite all efforts by communist authorities to destroy it. Lest we forget, may we constantly remember your unique contribution to Lord Chaitanya’s sankirtana movement. From your transcendental position please look down upon this humble soul and grant me the same courage that you had to spread the glories of the holy names far and wide despite the greatest opposition.
