The celebration of Lord Ramacandra`s appearance in Mayapur had a very sweet flavor. The deities of Sri Sri Sita Ram Laksman Hanuman were set in front of the altar of Sri Sri Radha Madhava and Asta sakhis and were beautifully decorated with different ornaments, jewels and fragrant flowers and the devotees were jubilantly dancing and chanting “Raghupati Raghava Raja Ram…”. Sri Jagannatha Mandir and its harinam team once again became instrumental in spreading the Holy name to another zone where the holy name was never heard before. On 5 April 2014 devotees organized harinam and Sri Sri Gaura Nitai Palanquin procession at Carey Island. This island is located on Selangor’s coast, which is a mere 20 minutes’ drive from klang town. When Maharani Berg opened her third Good Karma vegetarian restaurant in the DeLisle community near Pass Christian recently, she thought only a few people would show up for the soft opening. The response caught her by surprise. “One hundred people came in that night,” she said. “It was the first time I ran out of food for an opening. I didn’t expect that many people to be there.” Ingredients come mostly from Oriental stores and includes locally grown produce. “In the summertime we have a lot of vegetables coming out of our garden at the farm where I live,” she said. “I plan all the food and every day is different. I see what grows in the garden locally and seasonally.”

The farm is part of the the New Talavan community, which is affiliated with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, commonly referred to as the Hare Krishna movement. Read more ›

ISKCON of Washington DC, located in Potomac, opened its doors to the public in 1975. Our founder, Srila Prabhupada, visited in 1976. The main building, a beautiful temple, is home to a very special Deity of Krishna. It is ISKCON’s first Krishna Deity in America. The Deity is called Madan Mohan, and is the center of the community here.

ISKCON of DC sits on 12 acres of beautiful forested land. Along with the Temple, there is a Cultural Hall, a creek meandering through the property, where we grow flowers and vegetables and lovingly take care of our cows.

Our property is open daily from 4:30 am to 9:00 pm. Every Sunday we have a special Open House from noon to 3pm. Visitors are welcome all year round. Read more ›

Tamal Krishna Goswami has served on ISKCON’s Governing Body Commission since its inception in 1970. In January 1972, he accepted the renounced order of life (sannyasa) from his spiritual master, A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in Jaipur, India. He served as ISKCON’s first GBC Secretary for India from 1970-74 and was appointed trustee of the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust, responsible for U.S. sales. In 1977, he served as Srila Prabhupada’s last personal secretary. Since that time, he has served as the GBC Secretary for Texas and a large number of countries in the Orient. We had the opportunity to cook wonderful Prasadam that was served to over 5000 fortunate souls in Brussels. Pretty amazing program organized by Tristran, Niki, Dominique and Parasuram. Everyone loved the Prasadam and were awestruck by Para’s huge pots. This program is making people aware of the terrible waste going on in the food industry. Parasuram has been doing this for years, getting donations from food wholesales and chains such as Costco. Then we cook it, offer to Lord Krishna, then distribute it freely. The expenses are offset by grants and donations.

It is with great joy and jubilation, yes there is no remorse or regret here, that I inform everyone of the passing from this mortal world of Srimati Indrani Devi Dasi, dear disciple of His Holiness Bhakti-tirtha Swami and beloved grandmother of the entire New Raman Reti community. After spending her last few hours being visited by scores of New Raman Retivasi’s she peacefully passed from this world. At the time of her passing which was the 528 year of Lord Gauranga, Visnu masa, Asvini naksatra, on the cusp between the dvitiya and tritiya tithi, she was surrounded by devotees chanting kirtan, the japa of the Holy Name recited by Srila Prabhupada being played, garlanded with deity garlands from Radha Syamasundara’s altar, wearing Nrsimha kavaca’s, with Govardhana sila on her chest, massaged with various Nrsimha oils and gently sprinkled with Yamuna water.
