Vrindavana: Tonight Vrajavadus Kirtan Group Did Amazing Damodarastam and Kirtan. (Album with photos)
Srila Prabhupada: My heart is always burning in the fire of material existence, and I have made no provisions for getting out of it. The only remedy is hari-nama-sankirtana, the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, which is imported from the spiritual world, Goloka-Vrndavana. How unfortunate I am that I have no attraction for this. (Srimad-Bhagavatam, 5.1.22 Purport)

November 8. ISKCON 50 – S.Prabhupada Daily Meditations.
When the weather was not rainy, Prabhupada would catch the bus to Grand Central Station and visit the Central Library on 42nd Street. His Srimad-Bhagavatams were there – some of the same volumes he had sold to the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi – and he took pleasure in seeing them listed in the card catalogue and learning that they were being regularly checked out and read. He would sometimes walk through U.N. Plaza or walk up to the New India House on Sixty-fourth Street, where he had met Mr. Malhotra, a Consulate officer. It was through Mr. Malhotra that he had contacted the Tagore Society and had secured an invitation to lecture before one of their meetings. Riding the bus down Fifth Avenue, he would look out at the buildings and imagine that some day they could be used in Krishna Consciousness. He would take a special interest in certain buildings: One on Twenty-third Street and one with a dome on Fourteenth Street attracted his attention. He would think of how the materialists had constructed such elaborate buildings and yet had made no provisions for spiritual life. Despite all their great achievements of technology, the people felt empty and useless. They had these great buildings, but the children were going to LSD.

NBS#24 Radha kunda and Shyama kunda
Nectar of Instruction, verse 9, states:
“The holy place known as Mathura is spiritually superior to Vaikuntha, the transcendental world, because the Lord appeared there. Superior to Mathura—Puri is the transcendental forest of Vrindavan because of Krishna’s rasa-lila pastimes. And superior to the forest of Vrindavan is Govardhana Hill, for it was raised by the divine hand of Sri Krishna and was the site of His various loving pastimes. And, above all, the superexcellent Sri Radha-kunda stands supreme, for it is overflooded with the ambrosial nectarean prema of the Lord of Gokula, Sri Krishna. Where, then, is that intelligent Person who is unwilling to serve this divine Radha-kunda, which is situated at the foot of Govardhana Hill?”
On the recent appearance of Sri Radha-kunda (Bahulashtami), we have covered a few topics glorifying this most exalted place.
NBS # 24 Features:-
1) Why Is Radha-kunda So Exalted?
His Divine Grace A .C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
2) The Appearance Of Radha-kunda and Shyama-kunda
Srila Vishvanatha Chakravarti Thakur
3) Radha-kunda, Lord Chaitanya and Ragunatha Das Goswami
Srila Narahari Chakravarti Thakur
4) Sri Radha-kundashtaka, Eight Prayers Glorifying Radha-kunda
Srila Raghunatha Das Goswami

“He had practice in his last life.” Indradyumna Swami: The first morning in the Detroit temple, Prabhupada came down the stairs to give class. Bhagavan’s wife, Krishna-bhamini, along with her first child, one-year old Vaishnava das, were standing near Prabhupada’s vyasasana and I was standing near Krishna-bhamini. When Prabhupada walked in, kirtan was going on and Vaishnava was expertly playing the kartals—sweetly and in time. Prabhupada saw this and said, “Oh, this is very nice.” Then he sat down on the vyasasana and instead of picking up his kartals and chanting jaya radha-madhava, he said, “So these children who are born in our Krishna consciousness Society, they could not finish Krishna consciousness in their last life. They have been given the chance to take birth in the family of a devotee husband and wife; therefore this child is playing the kartals. Otherwise it is not possible. He had practice in his last life; therefore again he’s remembering and playing. This is the fact.” Krishna-bhamini was so happy to hear that. Prabhupada also quoted the Bhagavad-gita on how the unsuccessful yogi takes birth again either on a higher planet or in a family of wealthy merchants or, Prabhupada said, “In a nice devotee or brahman’s house.” He said, “These children are special. You must take very good care of them.” That impression remained with me. Another time, at the chateau in New Mayapur when I was a grihastha, one afternoon I was taking my one-year old son on my shoulders while I chanted my japa around the castle. Prabhupada came to look out the window from his quarters upstairs and my son, Gaura-shakti, saw Prabhupada and said, “Prabhupada! Prabhupada! Prabhupada!” He was so excited that I thought he was going to fall off my shoulders. I said, “Okay, hold on! Hold on!” Prabhupada waved to him and that night in his darshan, Prabhupada brought up this incident. He said, “There was one young boy going around the castle with his father and when he saw me, he started chanting ‘Prabhupada! Prabhupada!’” Prabhupada said, “We don’t know who these children are. They’re so enthusiastic when they see me, maybe there is some relationship from a previous birth.” I said, “Ah, my son.”

Hare Krishna! Society distributes meals to pupils Campaign to promote vegetarianism held to mark group’s 50th anniversary!
THERE are many ways one can celebrate an anniversary. Some throw lavish parties and others do a simple get-together. The International Society of Krishna Consciousness of ISKCON, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, distributed free meals to pupils to promote vegetarianism recently. It was carried out under the Sastra Dana Anna Dana programme organised by ISKCON Malaysia together with Bhaktivedanta Books Trading Malaysia Sdn Bhd and Food For Life Society Malaysia. The group visited selected Tamil schools in Kuala Lumpur and Klang. Last month, they made their first stop at SJK(T) Vivekananda in Petaling Jaya, where Food For Life Society gave out 720 meals to pupils and teachers there. The session started off with the pupils singing the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra.

November 7. ISKCON 50 – S.Prabhupada Daily Meditations.
In his solitary wanderings, Srila Prabhupada made acquaintances with a number of local people. There was Mr. Ruben, a Turkish Jew, who worked as a New York City subway conductor. Mr. Ruben met Prabhupada on a park bench, and being a sociable fellow and a world traveller, sat and talked with the Indian holy man. Mr. Ruben: He seemed to know that he would have temples filled up with devotees. He would look out and say, “I am not a poor man. I am rich. There are temples and books; they are existing; they are there, but the time is separating us from them.” He always mentioned “we” and spoke about the one who sent him, his spiritual master. He didn’t know people at that time, but he said, “I am never alone.” He always looked like a lonely man to me. That’s what made me think of him like the holy man, Elijah, who always went out alone. I don’t believe he had any followers.

Radha Kunda Seva: October 2015 Photos and Updates

By the Radha Kunda Seva team

It is Srimati Radharani’s special month, the month of Kartika, also known as the month of Damodara. During this holy month, when devotees are converging in Radha Kunda from all over the world, we revel in the fact that we have been given the opportunity to do some small service in this most sacred of places day after day, year after year, 365 days a year. Since our service is here, our thoughts are here also. And what a blessing it is to have our thoughts, like busy bees, buzz from one place to another and one service to another in our Swamini Radhika’s holy land. Our happy news this month is that, finally, after a full year of endeavor, we have an India bank account in the name of Padma Charitable Trust! Now people residing in India can donate straight to PCT. The next step is to obtain the final architectural drawings for the kitchen, office, and a guest house for volunteers and donors so that fundraising can begin in earnest. Again and again we are recognizing the great urgency of having our own land and kitchen.

Hare Krishna! We Are Not The Body, But…
Because we think we are “not the body”, it can lead us to do so many wrong things in the name of Bhakti. It can induce false detachment and renunciation. That is, pushing oneself to be detached without spiritual taste to replace it – it becomes an off-the-body form of mind and body deprivation that does not last, because it is exerted by passion, not natural spiritual progress. An artificial renouncer might think, “I am denying myself of all trappings of sense gratification, so why should others also not share in my renunciation?” Because one is depriving oneself and demands others to do the same, is a reflection of envy. Self-punishment is not the way to get off the bodily platform. It can turn us into impersonalists by our actions and words. This is, because we think I am not the body and everyone else is not the body, we must not attach much importance to the body, meaning it is not important how others feel emotionally to our vigorous application of chastisement, strictness, conformity, and other demands. Bhakti is a voluntary offering of mind, body and words in love.

November 6. ISKCON 50 – S.Prabhupada Daily Meditations.
Prabhupada, having obtained an extension on his Visa, stayed on. America seemed so opulent, yet many things were difficult to tolerate. The sirens and bells from fire engines and police seemed like they would crack his heart. Sometimes at night he would hear a person being attacked and crying for help. From his first days in the City, he had noted that the smell of dog stool was everywhere. And although it was such a rich city, he could rarely find a mango to purchase, and if he did, it was very expensive and usually had no taste. From his room he would sometimes hear the horns of ocean liners, and he would dream that some day he would sail around the world with a sankirtana party, preaching in the major cities of the world.

Hare Krishna! Thinking Big Pays Off!
Mukunda Goswami: In 1981 devotees posed for a photograph that appeared in a publication called The Wonderful World of Hare Krishna in Australia. A sankirtana party of approximately 40 devotees clearly showed the Sydney Opera House in the background. The Opera House has become a worldwide symbol for what Donald Horne in his 1964 book called The Lucky Country. On Saturday, 20 August 2016 devotees of ISKCON will perform sankirtana inside this iconic structure. Srila Prabhupada’s singular fault, according to Srila Prabhupada himself, was that he couldn’t “think small”. Staging a Hare Krishna event inside the Sydney Opera House is an example of “thinking big”, and the credit goes to Damodara Pandit dasa of the New Govardhana community of Australia, who for nearly three months negotiated with Opera House personnel to obtain this venue.

South Korean Kirtan Tour Soothes the Seoul!
A video currently making the rounds on social media shows well-known U.S. kirtan chanters Gaura Vani and Ananta Govinda dancing out of a conference room into the hallway at the Korea Yoga Conference in South Korea. They’re followed by two lines of smiling Koreans, who are holding their arms up in the air, swaying with the Swami step, and sweetly chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. “Korean people are very hardworking, very modern, and tend to be very stressed out,” says Gaura Vani, who toured South Korea’s capital city of Seoul from October 6th to 20th this fall. “So with kirtan, we tried to help them open up more and live less in the head, and more in the heart. And they were very receptive.”
