One should not artificially try to see the form of the Lord while chanting Hare Krishna, but when the chanting is performed offenselessly the Lord will automatically reveal Himself to the view of the chanter. The chanter, therefore, has to concentrate on hearing the vibration, and without extra endeavor on his part, the Lord will automatically appear. (Srimad Bhagavatam, 4.8.53 Purport) Read more ›

Swamiji (Album 49 photos)
→ Dandavats.com

Indradyumna Swami: Last night Brahmananda Dasa launched a new book “Swamiji” wherein Steven J. Rosen ( Satyaraja dasa ) recounts Brahmananda prabhu’s service and association with Srila Prabhupada in the early years of the Hare Krishna Movement. While reading and commenting on the book, published by Torchlight Publishing, Inc. Brahmananda prabhu gave rare and valuable insights into the life of Srila Prabhupada in those formative years. Recounting his spiritual masters glories he was several times moved to tears, as was the audience. There were a number of senior Prabhupada disciples present. I considered the evening one of the highlights of my visit to Vrindavan this Kartika. I am forever indebted to Brahmananda prabhu for he, along with his brother Gargamuni dasa and Visnujana Swami, stayed with me in my apartment in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1971 and influenced me to become a devotee. [ ‘Swamiji’ will be available in a couple of weeks on Amazon.com ] Read more ›

The Hare Krishna movement is present in every millennium of Lord Brahma’s life, and the holy name is chanted in all the higher planetary systems, including Brahmaloka and Candraloka, not to speak of Gandharvaloka and Apsaroloka. The sankirtana movement that was started in this world five hundred years ago by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu is therefore not a new movement.

It is the duty of the mahatmas to chant the Hare Krishna mantra and try to spread it all over the world to the best of their ability. Kartik 2014: Appearance day of Sri Radha-kunda (Album 32 photos)
→ Dandavats.com

On the eighth day of the waning phase of the damodara month the appearance day of Radha Kunda is celebrated by the residents. Bathing in Radha Kunda is especially benefical on this day. By this one gains the favor of Radha, by which one gains the favor of Krsna. Radha Kunda appeared at midnight. People go to Radha Kunda and offer prasadam, garlands and pumkins (gords) into the water, then at midnight take bath in Radha Kunda and then bathe in Syama Kunda. Many people like to bathe at a ghat where Lord Nityananda’s sakti, Jahnava Mata used to bathe. But wherever you go you better get there early as thousands of people/devotees will be there. And bring some warm clothing for afterwards, as it is sooooo “cooling”. Read more ›

The Tree of Life Retreat, Australia 2014 (Album 41 photos)

At the retreat we found that if we understand and cultivate the tree of our life we have the best possible chance of growing to reach our spiritual goals. Thus, we learned that the ancient Vedas describe how the modes of ignorance, passion and goodness control the material world. We came to understand that the greatest spiritual benefit and God realisation is available to those who develop the mode of goodness in all the various aspects of their lives.

Using the tree as a metaphor, Sacinandana Swami showed how we could nourish our spiritual roots, maintain our emotional and physical life, benefit significantly from the association of spiritually minded people, and how we should live our lives compassionately. Read more ›
