The Most Important Time
→ Japa Group

“The brahma-muhurta hour is the most important time in the day, and you want to be awake for good chanting. If you’re heavy-lidded, there’s not much you can do but wash your face, grit your teeth, and do the best you can do. Don’t give in to sleepiness. The regulated life of a full night’s sleep is important.”

You Simply Hear
→ Japa Group

“Chanting. You simply hear. When you say “Hare Kṛṣṇa,” you try to hear the very sound, “Hare Kṛṣṇa.” That’s all. Nothing more. This is meditation. Your tongue and your ear should be engaged in sounding this transcendental vibration, “Hare Kṛṣṇa.” Best meditation.”

We Will Bond With Him
→ Japa Group

“We should always be very grateful to Krishna for giving us the Hare Krishna mantra, and we should show our gratitude by chanting it as much as possible. That way, we will bond with Him, which is our heart’s greatest desire. Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare.”

Try To Listen To One Mantra
→ Japa Group

“Although it’s true that we need Krishna’s grace at each stage, and if we hope to advance, we can still use our own free will properly and we must become determined to hear Krishna’s holy names. By our own efforts, based on our faith in the holy name, we should try to listen to one mantra — the mantra we are currently chanting.”

This Is My Time For Chanting
→ Japa Group

“Japa requires concentration. You obviously can’t do two things at once, such as watch television and chant on your beads. If you attempt that, it is offensive chanting and of little value. So you have to make up your mind, “This is my time for chanting,” and put other things aside.”

By Chanting Carefully
→ Japa Group

“By chanting carefully, you get the strength to follow the orders of your spiritual master, as you associate with Krsna’s name. But we know that if you associate without offense, it is much more effective. Following the four rules and living in devotional service assures you of avoiding the ten offenses.”

This Is It For Me
→ Japa Group

“I like chanting the maha-mantra. I’m familiar enough with the words ‘Hare,’ ‘Krishna’ and ‘Rama.’ They please me as they pass through my mind and lips. I’ve been doing it so long it’s become a love and deep attachment. I could never switch to another kind of prayer of another religion, or even another mantra in the Vedic religion. This is it for me. I began in 1966 and I’ll continue it until the end.”
