3. Kacey’s Retirement and Replacement Search

Kacey got an opportunity to be a director at a non-profit called Grow Ohio Valley and she resigned from ECO-V in February. The board members are simultaneously sad to see her go and happy to know she found a position where she will still be able to regularly interact with ECO-V because she oversees Grow Ohio Valley’s local food production efforts in Marshall County. There was a general discussion defining Kacey’s contribution to the garden and what sort of person should be considered for the position. The ECO-V team will continue a search till a suitable Garden Manager replacement is found.

This project has been on hold since January due to the weather and will resume once conditions improve.

7. INV Bahulaban Utility Building Roof & Window Repair

The roof was completed in December and some exterior clean-up has been done. The Stone Shop roof has not been done. The Amish workers are offering a good price to finish that section of the roof. The Joint Boards will look at this project during the on-site meeting.

A sign was placed at the new water filling station near Prabhupada’s Palace. This project has been completed.

11. INV/ECO-V Farms Garden of 7 Gates 3 High Tunnel Greenhouses

The saintly person
→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 2010, Chowpatty, India, Lecture)

Transcribed by Madhumati dd

SP_obeisancesOne must be careful in dealing with saintly persons. One must be respectful – that is important! We must serve saintly persons respectfully; we pray at the dust of their feet which means that we must be prepared to accept them as our superior and accept them as those who are more capable in devotional service than we are, who are more capable in pleasing Krsna than we are!

So, our service is not so significant. There are others who are making a much greater sacrifice than we do therefore we must always be in the mood to recognize the service of others…

If we think, “I am very qualified, I am aristocratic, I am learned, I am wealthy and good looking as well. All these wonderful qualities I have and people know it and therefore they are respecting me!” Then it will be more difficult to give respect.

Hare Krishna! TOVP Team Travels North America with Lord Nityananda’s Paduka, Nrsimhadev’s Satari and Jananivas Prabhu from Mayapur
The devotees showed an overwhelming response to the presentation by making pledges toward the temple construction to the tune of $850,000. Next, the team traveled to Dallas, and made a similar presentation at the temple on Sunday. More than 300 people from the congregation attended, with another surprising response of $1,000,000 in collective pledges. The temple president of Dallas, Nityananda Prabhu, was pleasantly surprised by the generosity, since he was expecting us not to collect any more than $50,000. He has been so pleased to see his congregation respond so favorably to the Mayapur Project, that he has further pledged $1,000,000 from his temple congregation, to be sent to Mayapur.

Auckland New Zealand: Harinam sankirtan ki jaya! (Album 27 photos)
Srila Prabhupada: We must rise early in the morning, bathe, attend mangala-arati, worship the Deities, chant the Hare Krishna mantra, study the Vedic literatures and follow all the rules prescribed by the acaryas and the spiritual master. If we deviate from this process, we may fall down, even though we may be very highly advanced. (Srimad-Bhagavatam, 5.8.8 Purport)

Diti vs Devahuti: Conception and Pregnancy (5 min video)
It is interesting to contrast Diti and Kashyapa’s union with Devahuti and Kardama’s union. What was different about two couples living in a hermitage and pursuing self realization, with both women being princesses before they got married? What was so different that one couple had two demons born to them while the other had the Supreme Personality of Godhead take birth as Lord Kapila.

Hare Krishna! Baladeva Vidyabhusana Project Update and Rupa Gosvami’s Hari-namamrta-vyakarana
I am glad to announce that while searching for Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana’s works, I found a manuscript of Srila Rupa Gosvami’s Hari-namamrta-vyakarana. Just as Srila Jiva Gosvami’s Sat-sandarbhas were based on Srila Gopala Bhatta Gosvami’s notes on the Srimad-Bhagavatam, similarly Srila Rupa Gosvami’s grammatical treatise is the work which inspired Jiva Gosvami to write a full-fledged version of it.

Ancestrals – Prasūti’s Grandchildren Through Svadhā
→ The Enquirer

Prasūti’s daughter Svadhā married the Ancestral Pitṛ, who takes many forms. In the forms of Agnisāttva (“Offerings of Fire”) and Ajyapā (“Offerings of Butter”) the Ancestral Pitṛ accept offerings through the sacred fire. In the forms of Barhiṣada (“Offerings of Grass”) and Saumya (“Offerings of Soma juice”) the Ancestral Pitṛ accept offerings without sacred fire.

From all these Pitṛ, self-controlled, self-sustaining, self-possesed Svadhā conceived two daughters who were expert spiritualists, full of supreme knowledge and realization. She named the daughters Vayunā (“Wisdom’s Goal”) and Dhāriṇī (“The Upholder”).

We are in this together…
→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 29 April 2012, Radhadesh, Belgium, Lecture)

KKS_sweden_2011This morning, I opened my lecture with the topic of sex life because we have these material bodies. Prabhupada said in the Srimad Bhagavatam, ‘The whole material world is a backdrop for sex life!’ That is what he wrote. Sex is the one thing that is behind everything, somehow or other, either direct or indirectly, it is so deeply engraved.

When Brahmananda was saying that he had a university professor who once rejected his essay because Brahmananda had written in his essay that people are intrinsically driven by a desire for spirituality, and his mundane teacher had said, ‘Wrong, they are driven by sex!’ Brahmananda was presenting this to Prabhupada and he said how foolish his teacher was, and Prabhupada said, ‘No, your teacher was right.’

So, I brought it up to let you all know that we are not alone in this struggle. We are doing it together. We are, somehow or other, together making this commitment. I am making this commitment and you are making this commitment. I live by the same four regulative principles as you do. I also promised it and I am also in a material body, and I also say, ‘I choose for Krsna!’

Of course, it becomes easier and easier with time, and more and more natural but one has to keep on choosing for Krsna! One has to make sure that one fills the heart and the consciousness with hearing, chanting and service in relation to Krsna so that one is full enough to not be drawn to the physical platform!
