Report by Martin Kindt
Kadamba Kanana Swami arrived in Sri Vrindavan Dham on the morning of Govardhan Puja (24 October). Gopal Krishna Goswami offered him a ride by taxi from Delhi, where Maharaj had stayed the night before.
As soon as Maharaj arrived at the Krsna Balarama Mandir, he rushed to his room. The reason for this was that the abhishek ceremony had already started. Maharaj said, “I also need the mercy!” So he got ready to bathe the Lord. He ran to the altar… offered one conchshell… enough…then to the kirtan!
All in all, it took Maharaj maybe twenty minutes from arriving at the guesthouse to sitting at the harmonium. The temple was packed, packed, packed!! Maharaj started playing a newly learned “Aindra tune“ and the devotees started pushing away people sitting in front of Krsna Balaram, because they wanted to dance since Maharaj was leading kirtan.
And they did! The crowd was just in ecstasy… jumping… dancing in circles… throwing each other in the air… stage diving! What a kirtan it was!
After the blazing kirtan, Maharaj circumbulated the wonderfully arranged big Govardhan Hill in the middle of the temple courtyard. Then the devotees started to transfer Govardhan to buckets to distribute the mahaprasad outside of the temple, because they did not want to throw it into the crowd as devotees did traditionally on Govardhan Puja.
Maharaj said, “I threw the maha also when I was temple president here.” In the evening of that day, disciples arranged a small offering to Maharaj‘s Govardhan Sila, Giriraja, in his room. They prepared a hill of fruits, nuts and traditional sweets. We had nice talks, sweet kirtans and did parikrama around Giriraja.
During his stay in Vrindavan, Maharaja showered the daughter of Yudhisthira Prabhu and Sanatani Mataji from Oslo, Norway, with mercy by giving her first grains.
On another day, Maharaj invited us to do a parikrama around Vrindavan. First, we visited Javat, the house of Abhimanyu. Later, we visited Ter Kadamba. Maharaj gave wondeful katha and revealed the dham to us through his words and kirtans. Hrishikesh Maharaj, again played the pastimes at Ter Kadamba and engaged some devotees as usual.
After a short stay in Vrindavan Dham, Maharaj headed to Sridam Mayapur to celebrate the Vyasa Puja of HH Jayadvaita Swami and serve him by arranging the annual raspurnima celebration for all the Prabhupada Disciples.

Ratha-Yatra : Lord Jagganatha wins 1st place for best float at Xmas parade.
Srila Prabhupada: Others, who are not devotees, may think, “How can people devote so much time simply to talks of God?” The chanting of the Hare Krishna mantra is simply the repetition of three words, Hare, Krishna, Rama, but still devotees can go on chanting this Hare Krishna mantra twenty-four hours a day without feeling fatigued. Day 1 of Kirtan Mela Malaysia was a blast!
→ ISKCON Malaysia
It was a blast like never before in Kuala Lumpur. No words can describe the ecstasy that every single one was feeling in Sri Jagannatha Mandir. With kirtaneers and musicians from USA, Ghana, Mayapur, Bosnia, Kazakstan, Phillipines, Indonesia and Malaysia, it brought us to the real truth that race, creed or colour doesn't matter when we join in a kirtan to sing the sweet sound of the Holy Name which went on for more than 12 hours on the first day of the Kirtan Mela in Kuala Lumpur. Just their presence had brought together devotees from different states in Malaysia together as well as those in nearby countries together. Such a wonderful association, not to be missed.
From a meditative mood, the kirtan turned into ecstasy as the crowd went wild at nightfall climaxing when Ojasvi Dasa and BB Govinda Swami took the lead. Almost everyone was off the ground and dancing to the melody that flowed through.
There are three types of meditation on the Holy Name, BB Govinda Swami explained. The first is meditation in your mind, then chanting softly which is what we call japa. But the most effective one is the one which is done loudly together in unison. Krishna is non different from His Name, but the subtle difference is that the Holy Name can forgive you for your sins and awaken love of Godhead which even Krishna in His personal form won't give.
However, one should perform kirtan not just because of eradicating ones sins but more because it is what pleases the Lord the most.
Well, if you have missed it, you still have one more chance. Hope to see you tomorrow at the temple.

ISKCON Scarborough – Gita Jayanti – The appearance day celebration of Srimad Bhagavad Gita- Tuesday December 2nd 2014
→ ISKCON Scarborough
Hare Krishna!
Please accept our humble obeisances!
All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
All glories to Sri Guru and Sri Gauranga!
We have two very auspicious events happening on the same day coming Tuesday- 2nd December 2014
- Advent of Srimad Bhagavad-Gita(Gita Jayanti)
- Moksada Ekadasi
One of the Vrata(vow) undertaken during Ekadasi is to read the Holy scriptures.
What can be more glorious on this Moksada Ekadasi than reading Bhagavad Gita on the very day that marks the 5151st appearance day anniversary
We at ISKCON Scarborough will be celebrating Gita Jayanti in a grand manner on Tuesday- 2nd December 2014 by reading all the 700 verses starting at 6.30 PM sharp!
Advent of Srimad Bhagavad-Gita(Gita Jayanti)
It was on this day 5151 years ago, that Sanjaya narrated to King Dhritarashtra the dialogue between Sri Krishna and Arjuna in the battlefield of Kurukshetra at the place now known as Jyotisha tirtha, and thus made the glorious teachings of the Lord available to the people of the world, for all time.
Srimad Bhagavad-Gita shows a way to rise above the world of duality and the pairs of opposites, and to acquire eternal bliss and immortality. It is a gospel of action. It teaches the rigid performance of one's duty in society, and a life of active struggle, keeping the inner being untouched by outer surroundings, and renouncing the fruits of actions as offerings unto the Lord.
Srimad Bhagavad-Gita is a source of power and wisdom. It strengthens us when you are weak, and inspires us when you feel dejected and feeble. It teaches us how to resist unrighteousness and follow the path of virtue and righteousness.
The teachings of the Gita are broad, sublime and universal. They do not belong to any particular cult, sect, creed, age, place or country. They are meant for all. They are within the reach of all. The Gita has a message for the solace, peace, freedom, salvation and perfection of all human beings.
Anyone who gifts a Bhagavad-Gita to a deserving person on this day is bestowed profuse blessings by Lord Krsna
There will be a grand Ekadasi feast served after the whole recitation.
On the auspicious occasion, we welcome you, your family and friends to join us at ISKCON Scarborough to recite the entire Gita verses and to partake the unlimited blessing of Sri Sri Radha Gopi Vallabha

“Tell people it is the real thing…”
→ KKSBlog
(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 13 April 2013, Amsterdam, Netherlands, Srimad Bhagavatam 5.1.33)
To our book distributors, I would like to say this. When you are distributing books on the street, it is tough because people are not waiting for you. They did not come out to the streets to buy books. They came for another reason and then suddenly some extra-terrestrial comes, in his orange dress, and tries to put a book in their hands, “Woah. Noooooooooo! Not interested.”
But sometimes, somebody is just a little absent-minded and you just like, “Bang!” put the book in his hands. You know, he has got it in his hands. Then he stands there looking at it and then you tell him, “Yes, yes, we are not selling them. This book is for you.”
“For me? Really? Oh.” And he has it in his hands. That is the nature of the hand; the hand wants to grab. And once the hand has grabbed it, then the hand does not want to let go. So, they have to have the book in the hand. Once they have the book in the hand, the hand wants to keep it even if the mind does not like it. “It’s mine.”
It is hard to let things go from your hand once you have got it. So then, you know, okay, some people will buy the book but there are also many people who say no. But those who had it in the hand but gave it back and said no, they will think about it, you know what I mean, like I said, it stays in the mind. They will be a little curious, “What was it anyway?”
Therefore, the people that say no today are the ones that are going to say yes tomorrow! They are already preparing the ground. So, do not worry about all those people that say no, it is okay. At least they got in contact; they had the chance and they let it go and they will start to think about it. And the next time a book is offered to them, they will think like well maybe…
Then sometimes, somebody walks up to you, out of nowhere and says, “Oh, can I have one of those books?” That is one of those guys that said no before and who has been thinking about it and finally, just on his own, comes and takes it. So in this way, we should penetrate with this knowledge because it is the real thing. We can tell people it is the real thing and it is! That is the nice thing and therefore sooner or later people will turn to it!
