Punched Out All The Obstacles
→ Japa Group

"My japa was good in fighting all the way although it was a strange way to go about it. I listened to the syllables of the holy names and punched out all the obstacles that come to good chanting such as pramada inattention, the great difficulty, and blasphemy of a pure devotee and not having faith in the scriptures and so on."

Nrshimadev: Personification of soft-heartedness
→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 20 December 2010, Cape Town, South Africa, Lecture)

Lord Nrshimadev is the personification of soft-heartedness. That is particularly the manifestation of the Lord of soft-heartedness because why did he become roaring mad? Out of his deep affection for Prahlad… out of deep affection for his devotee. So actually the external thing is His anger but the real thing is His deep love for His devotee. For me that is an important point in my relationship with Nrshimadev that He came due to soft-heartedness – because then one can go beyond the fearsome… nails like thunderbolts and teeth like thunderbolts!

Hari Katha and Krsna Katha, from Melbourne, are two brothers who are disciples of Devamrta Maharaja. They work hard in their travel agency business and now have bought a two story terrace building opposite the main campus at Melbourne University.

Their idea is to have a travel agency branch upstairs and a cafe/preaching centre downstairs. This will be run by two other disciples of Devamrta Maharaja who are expert cooks.
The whole program will link with the Melbourne temple’s university program on campus where there is yoga class on Tuesday, prasadam distribution on Wednesday and kirtan, lecture and prasadam on Thursday.

Srila Prabhupada Encourages Communication, Cooperation & “Doing The Needful” As The “Best Program” For Developing New Vrindaban  - Nov 1968.

From a series of letters written by Srila Prabhupada outlining his vision for New Vrindaban.

Thanks to Vanipedia for the source material.

November 30, 1968

My Dear Kirtanananda,

Please accept my blessings. I thank you very much for your letter of Nov. 7, 1968, and I have duly noted the contents with great satisfaction. It is very good news that so many students are attending your kirtan programs in Columbus, and I think this will develop into a very prosperous center very soon.

So far your question whether you should stay at New Vrindaban, or help Hayagriva at Columbus, the best thing is to consult with Hayagriva, and work jointly. And do whatever needs to be done. That is the best program.

I think by Krishna’s Grace everything is improving nicely with the New Vrindaban idea, and please continue to make your program in this way.

I hope you are all well there, and convey my blessings to Ranadhira, Hrsikesa, and Pradyumna and any others; there also I think Mahavisnu das and Rama devi are also, and please convey my blessings to them along with their little son, Haridasa. I very much appreciated also the nice cartoon-advertisements for your OSU Yoga society, and I think Ranadhira must have done them so nicely. Please thank him and encourage him to do much more such nice artistic work.

Your ever well-wisher,

A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

P.S. Please offer my blessings to Dr. Henderson. He is our old friend and let us join together to spread K.C. all over the world.

1970 May 11: "Organize the new center even at personal inconvenience - that is real service. Maya is very strong, and we are liable to fall down at any moment. We have to gather our strength by chanting the beads sixteen rounds regularly and praying to Krishna for guidance. Kindly follow my instructions and forget if there is any disagreement."
