Our centers are like the oasis in a vast desert. In the desert there is no water, but occasionally if one is fortunate he may come in contact with an oasis and he is saved. Similarly in this material world we are drying up due to a lack of spiritual knowledge. The devotees pray for peace. "Haraye namah krsna yadavaya namah, gopala govinda rama sri-mudhusudana. This is another way of chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. The meaning is as follows: "I offer my respectful obeisances unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna. He is the descendant of the Yadu family. Let me offer my respectful obeisances unto Gopala, Govinda, Rama and Sri Madhusudana."

Our dearest Ekadasi (previously named Emily) arrived in Gita Nagari in 2010. She was purchased along with Jalangi (Josie) from a neighboring farmer. She is a thorough bred Brown Swiss, very beautiful and healthy and gave good, delicious milk to Sri Sri Radha Damaodara for about two and a half years. She was gentle - occasionally, she would be a little feisty. But she was always curious, very observant of any new people around, any new occurrences on the farm. Three people died of poisonous insect bite in villages around Barsana. Though the rains are good for the fields to grow the crops, villagers have always been worried about mosquitoes, which spreads different diseases. The villagers usually take measures to protect themselves from mosquito bites, but this year they are scared of an unknown insect bite that has killed three villagers. This past week many devotees increased their chanting of the holy names. We had a different group of devotees going out for Nagar Sankirtan every day from the 5th to the 12th. The different groups were the Mayapur brahmacharis, Indian council, Mayapur management, International high school, International primary school, the ISCKON security department, Jagannath temple devotees, Bhaktivedanta National school, and even our various shop keepers organized their own Hari-nam party.
