Srila Prabhupada: Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s transcendental mission is to distribute love of Godhead to everyone. Anyone who accepts God as the Supreme can take to the process of chanting Hare Krishna and become a lover of God. (Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Adi-lila, 4.41 Purport)

The Older Brother (7 min video)
Indradyumna Swami: The village of Dauji, not far from the town of Vrindavan, is steeped in devotion to the deity who resides there. The deity is also called Dauji, a name for Lord Balarama meaning ‘elder brother.’ The mood of the small village is reminiscent of Vrindavan several decades ago; small, quiet, quaint, and bursting with devotion. A must see for any devotee desiring to dive deep into the spiritual atmosphere of Sri Vrindavan Dhama.

Ten Subjects of Srimad-Bhagavatam
→ Dandavats

"O expert and thoughtful men, relish Srimad-Bhagavatam, the mature fruit of the desire tree of Vedic literatures. It emanated from the lips of Sri Shuka Muni. Therefore this fruit has become even more tasteful, although its nectarean juice was already relishable for all, including liberated souls." Srimad-Bhagavatam is the galitam phalam, or ripened fruit, of all Vedic knowledge. It is exactly like amrita, for by hearing its recitation we can cross beyond birth and death. The Srimad-Bhagavatam describes the various incarnations of Lord Hari, and in the process of these descriptions ten important subject matters are explained, namely sarga (the elemental creation), visarga (the secondary creation), sthanam (the planetary systems), poshanam (protection by the Lord), utayah (the creative impetus), manvantara (the periods of Manu), isha-anukatha (the science of God), nirodha (dissolution), mukti (liberation), and ashraya (the supreme shelter). Why many devotees undergo so much material tribulation in life?
→ Dandavats

By Your causeless mercy only, we are now able to think of Your lotus feet. This is our greatest gain. Dear Lord, everyone knows that the body is a breeding ground of diseases. Now we are aged, and instead of being proud of our bodily strength, we are getting weaker day by day. We are no longer interested in sense gratification or the false happiness derived through the material body. By Your grace, we have now come to the conclusion that hankering after such material happiness is just like searching for water in a desert mirage. We are no longer interested in the results of our pious activities, such as performing great sacrifices to be elevated to the heavenly planets.

Govardhan Retreat 2017 (Album with photos)
Giridhari Swami: We held our annual retreat/parikram at Govardhana from September 23-Oct. 5. 100 devotees from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the Philippines were blessed by the association of Rtadhvaja Swami Maharaja, Asita Krishna Maharaja and Krishna Baladeva Prabhu. The first week was spent in a retreat-style setting with increased focus on improving japa, as well as hearing relevant topical seminars and classes from these very qualified speakers. As it is said, “a picture is worth a thousand words” and these photos speak volumes.
The well-known kirtaniya, Govinda Prabhu and his kirtan team led the devotees in two enlivening, “Aindra Prabhu style” afternoon kirtan sessions, which had everyone on their feet and dancing with abandon by the end.

1970s Hare Krishnas perform in downtown Toronto.
Cynthia Reason (insidetoronto.com): This week’s “ThrowbackThursday” documents an early 1970s performance by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) – more commonly known as the Hare Krishnas – in downtown Toronto.
Taken sometime between 1970 and 1972, the photo was captured in front of the Bank of Montreal on the north-east corner of Yonge and Queen streets.
In 1976, ISKCON Toronto opened its own Hare Krishna Temple in a circa-1896 church at 243 Avenue Rd. Still in operation today, the temple opens its doors every Sunday evening to the “spiritually seasoned and the somewhat curious” for a weekly Love Feast, featuring kirtan musical mantra meditation, chanting, drumming, spiritual discourse and a free vegetarian feast served to all.
“ThrowbackThursday” is a weekly feature from Metroland Media Toronto showcasing fascinating photos from this city’s olden days, courtesy of the Toronto Archives.

Hare Krishnas’ new temple takes environment into account
→ Dandavats

On a recent sunny morning, Dr. Piyush Gupta was gazing across a broad expanse of land just west of Hilliard. Many might just see a dew-covered field dotted with groups of trees, but Gupta can imagine a large, white stone temple rising up from the ground. The site, just off Walker Road, is the future home of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness Columbus, of which Gupta is a council member. ISKCON is a society for Hare Krishnas, who believe meditation can purify one’s consciousness. The society, located in a small house near Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center since the 1980s, purchased the more than 50 acres of land in March 2016, and plans to start building on it soon. The land is just one sign of the vibrant, growing Krishna community in Columbus. Continue reading "Hare Krishnas’ new temple takes environment into account

Being Absorbed in God
→ Dandavats

This goal of life, to see the Lord everywhere and in this way be absorbed in Him, was also specifically described by Prahlada Maharaja when he was trying to convince his materialistic and demoniac friends about what is the purpose of life when he said, "O sons of demons, in the same favorable way that one sees himself and takes care of himself, take to devotional service to satisfy Bhagavan Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is present everywhere as the Supersoul of all living beings. Everyone... can revive his original, eternal spiritual life and exist forever simply by accepting the principles of bhakti-yoga. In this material world, to render service to the lotus feet of Govinda, the cause of all causes, and to see Him everywhere, is the only goal of life. This much alone is the ultimate goal of human life, as explained by all the revealed scriptures." (Bhag.7.7.53-55) Continue reading "Being Absorbed in God

Fasting.....................on Sun Oct 15,2017
Breakfast................ on Mon Oct 16 ,2017 b/w 7.20am-10.58am
Every fortnight, we observe Ekadasi, a day of prayer and meditation. On this day we fast (or simplify our meals and abstain from grains and beans), and spend extra time reading the scriptures and chanting the auspicious Hare Krishna mantra.By constantly ‘exercising’ our minds through regular japa we can train our senses to push the threshold of contentment.

Celebration on Fri,Oct 20(7pm)
Govardhan Lila:This pastime, proves Krishna’s unlimited love for His devotees. In the Bhagavad-gita (18.66), Krishna assures us that if we abandon all varieties of religion and just surrender to Him, He will protect us in all situations. By lifting Govardhana Hill, Krishna showed how He will go to any extent to protect His loving devotees.
Deepavali:To celebrate this event the residents of Ayodhya used lamps to illuminate the city, which in the Lord’s fourteen-year absence had come to resemble a city haunted by ghosts. When Lord Rama returned to Ayodhya the city’s residents regained their life and their distressed hearts lit up with joy. This light became manifest in the form of lighted lamps.
**Details will be posted shortly**

Next date is to be announced shortly!
The chanting is a spiritual call for the Lord and His Energy to give protection to the conditioned soul.japa, when performed with focus and attention, can subdue the agitating effects of one’s mind and senses. The senses, of which the mind is also one, are constantly being stimulated by the external world - by gross and subtle matter.
If you have not chanted before, and would like to participate in this program, we will be very happy to show how you can do this.
All welcome. We’ll loan you a set of Beads!
