(Kadamba Kanana Swami, September 2013, Cape Town, South Africa, Srimad Bhagavatam 8.20.13) We see only the tip of the iceberg and never really know what is going on all levels. We cannot see and that is the whole problem. I may look at the person sitting opposite of me. I may know his name. I […]

Find the devotee
→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 02 October 2013, Melbourne, Australia, Srimad Bhagavatam 2.3.2-7) We should never think that somebody is not a devotee. We should think that everybody is a devotee! The uttama-adhikari sees everyone as a devotee. We should find the devotee in other people. The devotee is there; we should just find it! We treat […]

With Krsna, anything is possible
→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, September 2013, Cape Town, South Africa, Srimad Bhagavatam 8.20.12) We can come up with a hundred excuses to justify why we do not have to surrender. Part of surrender is that we place our faith in Krsna and that he will make adjustments. ‘Yes but I put my faith in Krsna and he is […]

Giving credit to others

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 29 September 2013, Melbourne, Australia, Srimad Bhagavatam 2.2.36) How can we always remain appreciative in association of devotees? Sometimes we lose it so how can we stay always in the correct mood? By thinking that we are not appreciating devotees enough and that we are always falling short in appreciation. As soon as we start […]

The most important person
→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 8 September 2013, Lenasia, South Africa, Sunday Feast Lecture) We have temples where we can associate of devotees and get new inspiration because after all, this is a movement. Srila Bhakisiddhanta said, “It’s not an addendum in life.” It is not that Krsna consciousness is something we add on. “You know, I really […]

The lazy mind!
→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, September 2008, South Africa, Ratha Yatra Lecture) We have to always be strict with our lazy mind because our mind says, “Well, you know, you can’t be fanatic!” which translates to, “Oh well, let’s just be lazy,” actually. So the tendency to be a little lazy about standards and rules is very […]

A glorious destination
→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, September 2013, Cape Town, South Africa, Srimad Bhagavatam 8.20.13) It is stated in the Bhagavad-gita, ‘One who does good will never be overcome by evil.’ That is a very important point because it sometimes seems that one who does good gets overcome by evil. But it actually means is that if a person has done […]

Remaining chaste

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 17 November 2013, Mayapur, India, Rasapurnima, Srimad Bhagavatam 10.33.19) Question:  It is pretty clear to me, from studying Srila Prabhupada’s books, that the way we access Krsna lilas is – as sometimes Prabhupada would say in his purports – to give our lives to the mission. But, as the times goes on, […]

→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 02 October 2013, Melbourne, Australia, Srimad Bhagavatam 2.3.2-7) Even though we do not look for austerity, we do not spend the whole day trying to avoid austerity. We must take some austerity – that is bhakti yoga and we use our time, as much as possible, in devotional service. Therefore this chapter […]

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 12 September 2013, Durban, South Africa, Srimad Bhagavatam 8.20.13) Satsvarup Maharaja raised that question in one of his books which had the title, “Am I a demon or a vaishnav?”  That is a very good question, really. (Kadamba Kanana Swami, September 2013, Cape Town, South Africa, BYS Lecture) I’m thinking about Carl Jung who in an interview was asked, “Mr Jung, would you say that you believe in God?” That’s a basic question when you interview Carl Jung because everybody knows that Jung was very religious. (Kadamba Kanana Swami, 10 February 2013, Simhachalam, Germany, Srimad Bhagavatam 9.1.34) It is very interesting how Vrindavan is the abode which can offer pure devotional service. Both qualitatively and quantitatively, Krsna consciousness is established (in Srimad Bhagavatam) and therefore Srila Prabhupada wanted us especially to distribute Srimad Bhagavatam. He said that Srimad Bhagavatam should be […]

Be a preacher
→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 2011, Helsinki, Finland) In preaching, we should not throw Krsna consciousness like a ton of bricks on people’s heads and all at once tell them, “You have to follow everything!” and then runaway, never to be seen again. No, preaching means that we have to be sensitive, depending on which stage a […]
