There are no official representatives of Hinduism, as the term Hinduism does not imply a single spiritual tradition. This statement therefore is representative of Hindu culture and religion as ISKCON, as a Vedantic, monotheistic Vaisnava tradition. In this statement and in the elaboration of this statement, we present our response to the current global need for relationships among world faiths. ISKCON is the first global Vaisnava movement and as such accepts the responsibility to interact with host communities with respect and sensitivity. Here is an enlivening interview with Stephen Knapp (Sri Nandanandana dasa) by longtime friend Vaishali Shah about his journey through Vedic culture, how he got started, how he became a devotee of Krishna and joined Iskcon and became a disciple of Srila Prabhupada, and what became of it, what it has done for him and his writing of nearly 50 books on the spiritual topics of Vedic culture, as well as his encouragement for all others to take a serious look at what the Vedic tradition has to offer.
Good Friday is a solemn day of mourning and reflection for Christians, who often attend special church services and prayer vigils. Good Friday is a part of Holy Week, which includes Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday, and Good Friday, leading up to Easter Sunday.
Srila Prabhupada:
“Jesus Christ was such a great personality—the son of God, the representative of God. He had no fault. Still, he was crucified. He wanted to deliver God consciousness, but in return they crucified him—they were so thankless. They could not appreciate his preaching. But we appreciate him and give him all honor as the representative of God.
Of course, the message that Christ preached was just according to his particular time, place, and country, and just suited for a particular group of people. But certainly he is the representative of God. Therefore we adore Lord Jesus Christ and offer our obeisances to him.”

Famous as Uddhava-gita it forms the longest philosophical section of the magnum opus literature Srimad Bhagavatam. Continue reading "The Other Gita of Krishna
