Wyndham Hare Krishna Centre

When I recently visited Melbourne temple I was invited by Bhakta and Bhakti to come and join a couple of programs at the new Wyndham centre out in the west of town. This is in a warehouse rented by members of the congregation and offered to the devotees as a nice activity facility.

There is a large devotee community in the west of Melbourne and because of traffic congestion it is not so easy to get to our Danks Street temple all the time. The first night I went we had a wonderful kirtan night and I would say over a hundred attended. The next evening the devotees celebrated Gita jayanti and I was fortunate enough to speak about that.

TOVP Publishes a Pre-opening Pictorial Flipbook of the Completed Nrsimhadeva Wing

The TOVP Communications Department is pleased to announce the release of our newest online publication, a pre-opening pictorial and descriptive flipbook of the completed Nrsimhadeva Wing. This beautifully rendered flipbook designed by Sri Radha devi dasi from Canada illustrates the completed hall using cgi images and a 360° panoramic view created by the TOVP 3D Department of Srisha das and Pavan Gopa das, and also includes a detailed description of the design components of the hall and altar by Svaha devi dasi and Rangavati devi dasi.

In October, 2023 all ISKCON members will be joyfully celebrating the much- anticipated opening of the completed Nrsimhadeva Wing of the Temple of the Vedic Planetarium (TOVP). Although our beloved Mayapur Prahlad-Nrsimhadeva will not be relocated into Their new home until the three-month-long TOVP Grand Opening festival from December, 2024 until Gaura Purnima, 2025, this historic event will send a signal out to the world that the TOVP will soon be opening.

Govardhan Puja and Srila Prabhupada Disappearance Day – October 2022
The month of October was filled with celebration. We entered the month of Kartik from 8th October. Kartik, also known as the month of Damodara, is a month for deepening one’s love for Krishna. It is considered by devotees of Krishna to be the holiest month of the year. During this month, devotees make extra vows, perform extra spiritual activities, and generally worship Krishna in His form as a young boy, Damodara, who was once bound at the waist by His mother, Yashoda, as a punishment for His mischievous childhood pastimes. During the Kartik month, every morning and evening at the temple, everyone has an opportunity to show their heartfelt love and devotion to the Lord by offering ghee lamps and singing before Him.

Govardhan puja is observed in the victory of Lord Krishna over Lord Indra. Lord Krishna, with a motive to save the entire village from the heavy rainfall, lifted the Govardhan Hill to provide shelter to the people. After seven days of huge rainfall, Lord Indra accepted his defeat and stopped the rainfall.

The disappearance day of Srila prabhupada is observed by his followers by offering prayers to him and feeling his separation. Simultaneously, heartfelt gratitude is also expressed to please his divine grace and seek his blessings.
