What is the Vedic perspective on passive euthanasia?

When we are attracted to material things through our senses, whereas Krishna is spiritual, how can Krishna be considered all-attractive?

Does taking anti-depressant drugs as medicine violate the no intoxication principle?

Why does the Gita use a setting of war to convey its transcendental message when such a setting can be abused to provoke communal violence?

How is the holy name different from ordinary sound?

Is the holy name transcendental or immanent?

Has the Lord come under Maya in Kali-yuga that he is not able to protect Deities?

Why do the Bhagavatam and the Mahabharata describe the same stories differently?

Why did Krishna and others not try to reform Duryodhana as reformation is the ultimate goal?

What are the authentic sources for learning the Mahabharata?

How did a ciranjeevi Ashwatthama fight against the virtuous Pandavas?

Did Duryodhana have any good qualities?

A Facebook Question
→ Japa Group

Q: If we are chanting the holy name, on what exactly we have to concentrate on. whole mantra or we should think of any pastimes of the lord.

Dear V****,

Thank you for your message, your question is very good. I can give you a quote about this subject from Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Maharaja:

"I am overjoyed to hear that your enthusiasm for chanting is increasing. As our contaminations are removed by chanting, the Lord's form, qualities, and pastimes will be revealed to us in the holy name. There is no point in making a separate effort to artificially remember the Lord's form, qualities, and pastimes. The Lord and His name are one and the same. This will be understood clearly when the coverings in your heart are removed. By chanting without offenses you will personally realize that all erfections come from the holy name...."

Service matters

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 26 December 2014, Cape Town, South Africa, Srimad Bhagavatam 9.19.26)

serbia_2015We are not being judged by material qualifications, let that be. Do not get worried about that. If you get worried about that then you get stressed out. We are here to do some service! And the more service you do, the more you become a nice devotee. So do not dwell on these material things, just dwell on service!

The spiritual master is simply aloof, does not look at where someone is coming from, although he can see. In terms of sinful activities, he can see the result of sin in a person. But anyway, he does not care about that. He cares about how much service you are going to do or how serious are you. And the more serious you are, then the more all that sin does not matter.

Hare Krishna! Inauguration of Gaura Purnima festival
There was chanting of mantras by students of Bhaktivedanta academy. Next, there was a coconut breaking ceremony to invoke auspiciousness. Following that, some sanyasis spoke on the occasion. HH Gopal Krishna Goswami told devotees to take advantage of the sadhu sangha, get charged up and preach with enthusiasm on returning back. Compared to earlier situation of Mayapur, present Mayapur Gaur Purnima is surely a festival. Maharaj predicted that next year festival marking 50th anniversary of ISKCON’s incorporation would be ‘Super Grand’ event.

Hare Krishna! From Sri Mayapur Chandrodaya Mandir: HH Radhanath Swami
The Lord was in someone’s house. He heard literally millions of people crying out the holy names. Along with Lord Nityananda, He appeared before all of them. He raised His long, golden arms. In seeing these countless people all with such eager and humble hearts crying out Krishna’s names, He became so happy. Simultaneously there were thousands of kirtan parties. Lord Gauranga was going to different kirtan parties and dancing with the common people. By His all attractive, inconceivable potency, everyone could see Him dancing. Everyone could see tears of love and compassion like the Ganga flowing from His lotus-like eyes. In this way, the entire universe was trembling with the joy of nama sankirtana.

When The Mind Wanders
→ Japa Group

"When the mind wanders, bring it back in a mood of prayer and supplication, thinking, “O holy name, I want to chant, I want to hear, I want to be engaged in Your service by chanting and hearing.” Then simply practice the mantra-yoga of vibrating with the tongue and hearing with the ear."

Behind the temporary

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 26 December 2014, Cape Town, South Africa, Initiation Lecture)

Krsna and BalaramBehind all these temporary manifestations, behind the changing of the seasons, behind the changes that never seem to end, behind the endless waves of the ocean, behind all that, we see Krsna.

We see that Krsna is constant, that Krsna never changes, that Krsna is eternal, and we see that we are meant to be in an eternal relationship with him.
