KAJANG - There is an amazing effect from our recent Kirtan Mela in Malaysia that the youth are getting. They are bonding like never before. Youths from various centers throughout Malaysia are getting together in each other’s events not minding the travel, time or money needed to spend to get together. During our recent ratha yatras we saw youth from Central and Southern zones of Peninsular Malaysia travelling up North to participate in the ratha yatra there and then just a week later youths from Northern Peninsular Malaysia traveled to the Central zone to do the same.

Now from just devotees enjoying each others company, they are now spreading the joy of kirtan even in the universities and colleges they go to.
They have started a program called the Mantra Lounge which was spearheaded in London, in our local university, UNITEN. It is a music meditation lounge which gives the students a place to indulge in introspection with soft spirited music, candle light, cosy atmosphere and real good energy all around. A place for the student to de-stress, unwind and experience bliss.
Mantra is a Sanskrit word composed of ‘Mana’ – the mind, and ‘trayate – to transcend’. Therefore mantra refers to an ancient word or sound which helps the mind to reach a higher consciousness. Its is a powerful sound vibration – sometimes compared to a key that opens a specific lock. When accompanied by music it is known as kirtan. Accompanying the mantra with music is a way to help us with the difficult task of focusing the mind.
It was stunning... a sensual journey, unforgettable music with harmonium by Patita Pavan Dasa, karatals by Nanda Krishna and Shatish, mrdangam by Tirthapad and violin by Mukundan.
[Vallabha Bhatta to Lord Caitanya]: "The fundamental religious system in the age of Kali is the chanting of the holy name of Krishna. Unless empowered by Krishna, one cannot propagate the sankirtana movement. You have spread the sankirtana movement of Krsna consciousness. Therefore it is evident that You have been empowered by Lord Krishna. There is no question about it. You have manifested the holy name of Krishna throughout the entire world. Anyone who sees You is immediately absorbed in ecstatic love of Krishna." - Sri Caitanya caritamrta Antya lila 7.11−13

Saying Goodbye (Album 4 photos)
Indradyumna Swami: I am in Mayapur to pay my respects and say goodbye to Manorupa dasi, the wife of Prahlada Nrsimha dasa and mother of Sri Nama Vanamali dasa and Sri Paramahamsa Gaura dasa. Manorupa has terminal cancer and only a few days to live. Her and her family have served for many years on our Festival of India summer tour in Poland. I told her today that she’s definately going back Home, back to Godhead because in this life she has been the perfect disciple of her guru maharaja, ( Jayapataka Swami ) the perfect wife of Prahlada Nrsimha prabhu and the perfect mother of two fine sons. She is peaceful, calm and fearless in the face of death. Such a wonderful example for us all. Please all of you send her your love and blessings!

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 22 December 2014, Cape Town, South Africa, Srimad Bhagavatam 9.19.19)
Vanaprashta is not as scary as it seems. The spirit is that we simply dedicate the rest of our life to preparing for the next! Up to fifty years old, we can work on this life but then after fifty, we start to work on the next and that is the big change actually. Fifty is the warning that your time is running out; your number is up.
“Well, I’m still young!” The mind goes like that. I also think that I am not so old for my age (laughter). But then, this last journey, I was in Johannesburg in transit at the airport, I got into the bus to take us to the plane and these young people stood up for me (to offer me their seat)! And I was thinking, “God, it’s gone really bad now.” First time that has ever happened to me. I must look really old; it is getting pretty obvious. I didn’t realise that. So, it creeps upon you, little-by-little, old age and although you may think that it is not that bad, everybody else does think it! Anyway, I took the seat… what to do! It was comfy, I must say.
So time is running out! One has to get very serious about spiritual life therefore no more expanding the facility in this world. Wind it down and simplify…
Bhagavatam-daily Podcast:
—————-
“In all the books and from all the previous acharyas we find that it is important that we are focussing on the end result — prema bhakti. Even if we are in a conditioned state, if we make anything else our goal we will be distracted and diverted. So, how to keep this focus on pure devotional service always as the aim of our life? By hearing and chanting in the association of saintly people.”

Srila Prabhupada: “In Dvapara-yuga one could satisfy Krishna or Visnu only by worshiping Him gorgeously according to the pancaratriki system, but in the Age of Kali one can satisfy and worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead Hari simply by chanting the holy name.” (Narayana-samhita)
