Should Be Thoroughly Convinced
→ Japa Group

"Everyone of you should be thoroughly convinced of the power of the Hare Krsna mantra to protect you in all circumstances and chant accordingly at all times without offense. Then advancement will be swift and you will gradually come to see everything clearly so that you may act for the pleasure of the Lord without uncertainty."

Capturing Krsna in the month of Kartik
→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 04 October 2009, Durban, South Africa, Lecture)

krishna and cowherd boys We cannot be on automatic pilot; we must capture Krsna by making a special sacrifice! Then, when we have captured Krsna, we see that one cannot keep Krsna also. Mother Yasoda captured Krsna and Krsna was not only bound by Mother Yasoda’s ropes but Krsna was bound by Mother Yasoda’s love.

When Krsna was eleven years old, then Akrura came and Akrura took Krsna away from Vrndavana. From that day on, the residents lived in separation. From that day on, all the residents of Vrndavana, no matter what they did, they could not capture Krsna because it is not automatic.

Krsna was driving them mad… Mad in separation! Mad in their attachment to him! So, one has to earn Krsna’s favour again and again. This is an important point! Therefore, again and again, we are trying. But still, Krsna is such that whatever service is rendered to him, he will never forget. So, if we render this service in the month of Kartik, Krsna will not forget…

All Questions Answered: The Cause of All Causes, The Darshan Room, October 8, Dallas
Giriraj Swami

Krishna_Bhagavan“In the Vedanta Sutras, the Absolute Truth is defined as janmady asya yatah — that from which everything emanates. And Srimad-Bhagavatam begins with the same line: janmady asya yatah. So, what is that from which everything emanates? This is a very important question, because according to our origin, we can understand the purpose of our existence. Srimad-Bhagavatam explains in detail that that from which everything emanates is a person, who is conscious of everything directly and indirectly, who is independent, and who imparted the Vedic knowledge in the heart of Brahma, the original living being and the secondary creator of the universe. And that person is identified as Krishna, the all-pervading Personality of Godhead.”

All glories to Madhuvan, Vrindavan’s forest of sweetness! (Album 189 photos)
→ Dandavats.com

Indradyumna Swami: Madhuvan, Vrindavan's forest of sweetness, is the place of many of Radha and Krsna's most nectarian pastimes. It is also famous for the place where Druva Maharaja performed penance and austerities to achieve his desire for a kingdom greater than his father's. After having direct darsan of the Lord, however, he realised his greatest fortune was the Lord's association and he gave up all other inferior desires. We discussed these pastimes for many hours and concluded with even more hours of sweet, sweet kirtan. All glories to Vrindavan parikrama! Read more ›

In Kokilavan, one of the many beautiful forests of Vrindavan, live many Kokila’s – or cuckoo birds. Radha and Krsna often meet in the pastorial setting of that forest. There is also a famous temple of Shanidev, or Saturn, that is popular amongst those who approach him for relief from his influence of punishing sinners. [...]

Svalpam apy asya dharmasya trayate mahato bhayat: even a little devotional service can save one from the greatest danger. Devotional service, which begins with chanting of the holy name of the Lord, is so powerful that even if one falls down, he can be saved from all calamities if he somehow or other chants the holy name of the Lord. This is the extraordinary power of the Lord's holy name. (Srimad-Bhagavatam, 6.1.63 Purport). Read more ›

Prabhupada New Vrindaban Bahulaban 1976

Srila Prabhupada sits on his Vyasasana at the Bahulaban temple in New Vrindaban, June 1976.

Prabhupada: So everyone is getting milk? How much?

Kirtanananda: As much as they want.

Prabhupada: As much as they want, then jaundice (laughter). Too much is not good. They may take minimum half pound per head [daily].

Kirtanananda: Minimum.

Prabhupada: Minimum. And maximum one pound. Not more than that. But “Because there is enough, let us eat,” no. That is not good. But children must get at least one pound milk. If they drink more milk they become stout and strong.

Elements of friendship
→ KKSBlog

(Kadamba Kanana Swami,June 2011, Stockholm, Sweden, Lecture )

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAFriendship ultimately means commitment. To make a commitment to another person, not just giving a gift, but to make a commitment that, “Yes, I accept you. Yes, I am interested in your benefit.

These things have to be there, “I’m open to hear you. I’m open to respect you.”

Friendship requires all these things, “I take you seriously.”

So many things are there in friendship!

I’m Devoted To This Practice
→ Japa Group

"My mind was a little distracted but mostly paid attention to the pronunciation. I’m devoted to this practice and will always continue it. Even when I’m not chanting on the beads I find myself chanting in the mind. Always chant and chant and spend your time doing that. Keep Krishna on the mind, live in His holy names."

The leaders also had a morning session with around 20 or 30 members of the community and heard their suggestions, concerns and complaints. In the afternoon about 20 teachers came from the international school, which has over 230 students and gave a report and outlined their needs.
