Making of the Mayapur Vyasa Asana for Srila Prabhupada

by Ananda Lila Devi Dasi

A Video from the Mayapur Deity Outfit Department: Mayapur Divine Threads

“Cintamani” – A spiritual touchstone that turns anything that comes in contact with it into gold, and yet remains the same. This video documents the offering of a cintamaṇi themed Vyasa Asana to ISKCON Founder-Acharya His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupadaon on his 45th Disappearance Day festival at the Samadhi Mandir in ISKCON Mayapur. Embedded with contrasting colorful stones on classic purple silk, the asana effulgently shines through, giving that sparkling effect! This classic piece is for that glorious master who has touched many lives that came in contact with him.

We encourage devotees throughout the world to also participate in this dress-making process by sponsoring ALL the Deity outfits for one day during the three-month-long Grand Opening celebration festival of the TOVP from December 2024 through Gaura Purnima 2025. Go to the 31 Dresses Campaign page on the TOVP website to find out more.

Srila Prabhupada describes that birth, “Our sankirtana movement was first introduced in New York in 1966. At that time I came and began to chant this Hare Krishna mantra in Tompkins Square. I was chanting there for three hours with a small mrdanga (drum), and these American boys assembled and gradually joined, and so it is increasing.” (Science of Self-Realization) Continue reading "Tompkins Square Park: The Birthplace of the Hare Krishna Movement

Katyayani Vrata
→ Ramai Swami

All the unmarried gopīs in Vṛndāvana used to daily worship goddess Kātyāyanī early in the morning after taking a bath in the river Yamunā. Kātyāyanī is another name for goddess Durgā.
The goddess is worshiped by preparing a doll made of sand from the bank of the Yamunā.

The gopīs used to prepare the deity of goddess Durgā and worship it with candana pulp, garlands, incense, lamps and all kinds of presentations—fruits, grain and twigs of plants.

The unmarried girls used to pray with great devotion to goddess Kātyāyanī, addressing her as follows: “O supreme external energy of the Personality of Godhead, O supreme mystic power, O supreme controller of this material world, O goddess, please be kind to us and arrange for our marriage with the son of Nanda Mahārāja, Kṛṣṇa.”

From Krsna Book by His Divine grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

When Gargamuni took you out of the hospital they threatened that now you will not recover, and now it is our responsibility, what we are doing. They tried to force us. Prabhupada: I could understand that. Therefore I said, They were arranging for my brain operation. Very dangerous.
